Did you know that you have to be healthy to lose weight rather than the other way around? So many of us sacrifice our overall long term health for short term goals of seeing the number on the scale go down, and often gain the weight back or start to experience other symptoms such as disrupted sleep, haywire hormones, loss of libido and mood swings. You may find that you are having to restrict calories even more, or needing to exercise more to maintain your weight. Or maybe you are starting to put on weight despite doing ‘all the right things’?
My approach to healthy weight is to work with you on restoring metabolic health so that you feel great and are able to maintain a healthy weight with ease. This approach is based on nourishment versus deprivation: giving the body the nutrients it needs to function properly whilst enjoying delicious food. There are no restrictive diets, 30 day challenges or quick fixes around here!
You may find that you start to notice other improvements first, from regular to pain-free periods, improved mood and energy, better sleep, thicker hair and nails, clearer skin. These are all signs that your body is getting adequate nutrition to function on a cellular level.
If you have tried various diets throughout your health journey and managed to lose some weight only to see it all come back after the diet ends, then it may be time to focus on long term health versus short term weight loss.
I will work with you over an extended period of time to make small but impactful changes to your diet and lifestyle in order to create life-long habits so that you never have to go on another fad diet again. By incorporating my health coaching techniques as well as my nutritional expertise I will keep you accountable and motivated and make lasting changes. You will then have the tools to start a new, positive relationship with food and to look and feel fabulous without ever feeling deprived!
